In the Pep Band

Mary never played sports in school; she was in the band. Not an athletic bone in her body, but she loved playing at school games. Football season was fun, but she really loved playing in the pep band during basketball season. That was the first time she discovered the blood-pumping energy of a cheering crown routing for their favorite team.

There was something about the squeaking shoes, the echo of the bouncing balls and the cheers of the crowd in the gymnasium that really got her all amped up. That was when Mary first discovered a love for the game. A love she carried through to college, then to life.

Now she roots for the local college and high school teams every week, but without the trumpet. Today, she’s on a park bench by the playground watching some high school kids run up and down the court. “If only I had my trumpet.” Still, what a rush.

The Ruffneck Excel features a galvanized steel pole, a 42” x 72” steel backboard and an unbreakable fixed goal. The rim is directly mounted into the pole and the backboard is supported with two braces for ultimate strength.
